As much as it seems very typical of putting 5's across the board, the game deserves every sort of praise it's given. From emersive Single Player to the ever popular Multiplayer, Modern Warfare 2 is certain a game we'll be playing for a very long time.

As the penultimate time has passed us, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 is finally among us. With the current obsession of this game spread across the world, I’m here to find out if the new Call of Duty is really up to standard after the first Modern Warfare blew a huge amount of us away with the amazing multiplayer and its unique and intriguing story. So the question is, Does Modern Warfare 2 meets its standards compared to Call of Duty 4? The first Modern Warfare?

Hell Yeah.

At the start of the year, we were introduced to the teasers of the game and it thrilled console gamers and well as PC gamers everywhere. After the release, stores opened everywhere at midnight for the release of the game, selling out within the hour. It was certainly worth it. Following on from the last story, 5 years later, the world is once again under the threat of war.

With the war in Iraq still happening, the Americans are still trying to stop the threat of terrorism but clearly failing. That isn’t the real threat though in the story though. After the death of the last Modern Warfare’s bad guy, Zakhaev, his former lieutenant, Vladimir Makarov begins staging a multiple amount of terror attacks across Europe. You take control of many characters such as Pvt. Joseph Allen for the American Rangers and Gary “Roach” Sanderson, working for the elite commando unit called Task Force 141.

The visuals and graphics for this game are truly astounding with fully, real-life rendered guns and equipment from uniquely covered terrain during the different levels. When you play through the levels, you get a real amazing feel of atmosphere and well as emersion when you play your character in the single player or the multiplayer. The sights and sounds of the game also add to the emersion of the game from the guns firing to the sounds of your teammates beside you. All of these features take the traits of the first Modern Warfare and has improved it to an amazing extent.

When we come to the main meat of the game, the multiplayer, Infinity Ward were not expected to improve on the multiplayer as much as they have but have shocked people with a multiplayer that has the same feel of the last game but has enough changes to make it feel like a different experience. The last Modern Warfare was always praised for its longevity and entertainment that would made sure you wouldn’t let go on that controller. Now they’ve expanded on that making the multiplayer lengthier and more in depth. Customization of guns has been ramped up as well as the customization of killstreaks you can use to destroy your enemy. Even though, they have added little things to the multiplayer, it makes a huge difference to the player’s experience. As much as I can’t get past it, there is still a feeling of ‘Copy and Pasting’ the gameplay and multiplayer from Call of Duty 4 and adding some more wallpaper. The guns still have the same textures, the multiplayer has the same modes and is really just COD4 but styled up a bit. But what the game does do is ‘Copy and Paste’ the experience that COD4 gave us and thrown it right back in our faces. With a huge amount of force behind it too.

As a fan of the Modern Warfare series itself, the game has completely exceeded expectations and lived up to the amount of hype that it has generated for many months. Infinity Ward has proved that you can improved on perfection and that its little things that make the huge difference.
